3 Lessons Learned from Winning 2nd Place in the World Championship of Public Speaking
When I stepped onto the global stage at the World Championship of Public Speaking 2025, I wasn’t just representing myself — I was carrying Malaysia with me.
After competing against thousands of speakers worldwide, I am proud to have brought home 2nd place in the world — a historic achievement for Malaysia. This success isn’t just about my journey, but about the powerful lessons I’ve learned along the way: the importance of communication, resilience, and confidence. These are the very same values I now share with every student at MicFront.
Here are three lessons I carried home from the world stage and want to share with you:
Connection Beats Perfection
On the competition stage, I’ve learned that flawless delivery isn’t enough. What truly matters is connecting with the audience’s hearts.
My award-winning speech, ‘Raindrops’, wasn’t about fancy words or complicated techniques. It was about sharing a simple, relatable truth — that our world today is filled with hopelessness, loneliness, and violence, and how being the first to show kindness can inspire others to follow.
The audience leaned in not because every word was perfect, but because every word was genuine.
👉 At MicFront, this is exactly what we teach our students: confidence doesn’t mean being flawless, it means being authentic.
Preparation Builds Freedom
Behind my five-minute speech that captured the world’s attention, were the unseen hundreds of hours of practice, rewrites, and feedback sessions from over 30 clubs from all over the world within the span of 1 year.
The same applies to my students. Whether it’s a 7-year-old preparing for their first class presentation, or a teenager gearing up for a debate — preparation creates freedom. When you’re prepared, you’re free to focus on impact, not fear.
👉 That’s why at MicFront, I place heavy emphasis on practice, guided coaching, and constructive feedback.
Confidence Is a Skill, Not a Gift
Many believe great speakers are ‘born confident.’ My journey proves otherwise. I started as a nervous speaker myself, way back when I too, was a kid, and I built my confidence step by step — through support, practice, setbacks, and persistence.
Standing 2nd in the world wasn’t the result of talent alone, but the result of treating confidence like a trainable skill.
👉 At MicFront, I believe every child — whether shy, soft-spoken, or outspoken — can develop the same confidence to speak up and shine.
Standing on the world stage and carrying Malaysia’s name is both humbling and empowering. This journey proves that Malaysians can shine globally with the right voice, story, and determination
What This Means for Malaysia
My achievement places Malaysia firmly on the global map of public speaking. But more importantly, it shows families here that the highest levels of communication and leadership are within reach.
At MicFront, I now share this same philosophy with every student who walks through our doors: public speaking isn’t just about speeches — it’s about building leaders who can inspire, connect, and create change.
Public speaking changed my life, and I believe every child deserves the same chance to find their voice
